OHTS · Orbital High-Throughput Screening
The platform that turns
microgravity into a lab.
Standardized hardware, automated assays, full environmental control. Crewed and uncrewed platforms. Designed, built and flown by Exobiosphere.

02
Our own facility
The first orbital high-throughput service.
Exobiosphere designs, builds and flies OHTS as an orbital biomedical discovery facility. Exobiosphere owns the instrument, the mission and the data pipeline end to end.
This overcomes the constraints that have historically limited microgravity research, making large-scale, reproducible experimentation possible for the first time in orbit.
03
How OHTS works
From your sample to orbital data.
01
Payload integration
Client samples, cell lines or organoid models are tested on the ground and optimized for integration into OHTS. All operations use standardized, ground-validated protocols to maximize mission success.
02
Launch & orbit
OHTS flies as an integrated payload aboard VAST Haven-1 from the 2027 maiden mission; ISS access and dedicated free-flyers to follow.
03
Automated assays
OHTS dispenses, treats and images samples without crew intervention — 6×96 or 6×384-well plates, 2,000+ standardized tests in parallel.
04
Live data return
Brightfield, fluorescence and luminescence readouts downlinked throughout the mission: preclinical data delivered from orbit. Samples return post-splashdown for follow-up analyses on the ground.

01
Microfluidic dispenser
Fully automated. Dispenses volumes as low as 0.1 μL across a wide range of viscosities, self-cleaning between assays.
02
Imaging & luminescence
Integrated brightfield, fluorescence and luminescence plate reader; kinetic and end-point readouts.
03
Well-plate deck
Integrated brightfield, fluorescence and luminescence plate reader; kinetic and end-point readouts.
04
Autonomous operation
Maintains, treats and differentiates samples without crew intervention; a mirrored terrestrial 1 g control runs in parallel.
